Pam’s here! Hooray! I picked her up just after 10, and we stayed up talking til 4 am! I have no idea how I’m awake right now!

That was a lot of exclamation points.

When Pam wakes up, I’ll present her with various food options for the day. I’m excited because there are a TON of things going on downtown all day, so we’ll be sure to hit ‘em up.

Plus, we’ll take a million pics! :)

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 18: It’s go-go time!

G’day!

TODAY my friend Pam will arrive! I’m so excited!! I haven’t seen her in over 10 years, and haven’t actually spoken to her in that time either. We re-connected over various social networking sites that you and I are all members of. I’m so glad that those sites are out there… when used for the intended purposes, they are absolutely wonderful!

We have a big weekend planned, complete with about 10,000 pictures. I can NOT wait. We were complete goof-balls together in high school, and I’m sure it’s going to continue!

I will spend the day preparing….. cleaning, laundry, vacuuming the car, etc. I hope to go grab lunch somewhere too… YUM! Maybe I’ll beg the roommie to come with (and drive)!

I have to admit, that this crazy space boot is quite cumbersome because of it’s weight and size, but it’s not that bad. My ankle/ foot did hurt MORE last night, though…. but in a different way. We’ll see what the MRI says! I go on Sunday for that!

I’m so glad I have such amazing insurance. I’m even more glad to hang with Pam this weekend! :)

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 17: The Report

Hey Y’all.

So I went to the orthopedist today. They were very nice and very efficient. They also seem to know their shit. So far, I’m convinced I’m in the right hands.

I got some brand new x-rays today. Those were fun. Kind of like a photo shoot. I got to pose for three different shots. I even got to see them this time- yessss!!

The good news is pretty much what I wrote above… the bad news is, the ortho thinks I have a fracture in my foot. Good times. It also means my options were to:

a: Cast it

b: Boot it (essentially an air-cast boot)

I have to use my crutches more too. I hate my crutches.

He also told me I should get a shower stool because I shouldn’t be putting any more than 20% of my weight on my left foot at any time. I should have bought Noelle’s shower stool! Damn it.

I have a MRI scheduled for Sunday, and we’ll discuss the results on Wednesday. I’ll keep you posted. I can tell you’re all really interested.

Hi.

I was a mess yesterday. You see, my orthopedist called yesterday at about 3:00 and left a message for me saying that my appointment for this Thursday had been cancelled because the doctor had been called in for a surgery. They took the liberty of rescheduling my appointment for me for August 4th.

That’s when I lost it.

You see, I hurt my ankle on July 2nd. During the evening on July 3rd, I realized I should probably think about seeing an orthopedist. I emailed my doctor that night, asking her opinion. Keep in mind, that was 4th of July weekend. They emailed me on Monday July 7th, saying they had an appointment for me to see my primary care doctor the next afternoon. I went to see her on July 8th. She told me I wasn’t allowed to stand, walk, exercise, or do anything until I got the ok from the orthopedist (specifically with a specialty in feet and ankles). My doctor’s office scheduled me to see an orthopedist in town, but the first available appointment was on July 17th, which they seemed kind of cranky about (my doctor’s office that is) they wanted me to be seen sooner- they were concerned.

So when I got the call yesterday, literally less than 48 hours before my appointment, saying I wouldn’t be seen until August 4th (another 18 days!)… I was a mess.

I called my dad to see if it was acceptable that I was a mess. He said absolutely. He wanted me to call my insurance company, and get a list of all orthopedic providers and call them all. I decided just to call my doctor’s office. I left a message (complete with my voice cracking- literally fighting back tears) explaining the situation, and asking for assistance. I then called the cancelling-orthopedist’s office. I told them that I could NOT wait until August 4th, and that I would either need to be seen by another provider in their practice (with a foot and ankle specialty) sooner than that, or that they would need to recommend someone else. They recommended someone else. (I did explain that I understood that surgery was obviously important, but that August 4th was what I was upset about.)

I called my doctor’s office again with the recommendation. And waited. And cried like a little baby. Seriously. I just want to be friggen MOBILE. I have never felt so lonely in my entire life.

My doctor’s office called me this morning at 9:30 saying they got me an appointment with a different doctor in a town about 30 minutes away, at a different hospital. The appointment is TOMORROW at 11:15! I am so excited.

Hopefully, I’ll get some good news. Keep your fingers crossed.

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 15: Pescetarian Pam

Greetings!

So, it’s time for Tuesday’s Trivia Tidbits:

Last night only Britt and I were on our team (named, ironically- First Place). We SUCKED. We decided that if we didn’t know the answer, we’d come up with a hilarious answer. Because, really. Let’s have fun being idiots! For example: One questions was asking what the French call a certain body of water (named some French name). We were CLUELESS…. so our (obviously wrong) answer was “The Jersey Shore”. It was between that and Hampton Beach.

We were in last place ALL NIGHT, but that also meant we scored LOTS of prizes. I got a tank top and a t-shirt. Britt got a t-shirt and a leather satchel with a small towel inside. We both got light up lights, that we refer to as boobie-lights. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

So it’s official. One of my favorite people from my high school years is coming to visit THIS WEEKEND!! Yes, Pam is coming to town all the way from NYC! I haven’t seen her (or even actually spoken to her (other than on emails and IM- but not with actual voices) in 10 YEARS. I’m SO EXCITED. I’ll post about a million pictures on my myspace and facebook pages. I promise.

Pam’s a pescetarian now. If you don’t recognize this newly-added-to-Webster’s-Dictionary word, it means she is a vegetarian, but does eat fish. I like the word pescetarian. Almost makes me one to be one too… but I love me some cheeseburgers, and turkey on Thanksgiving.

This weekend will be a BLAST for sure. Not only do we have 10 years to catch up on, we also have memories to make as well. We’ve already promised to act like silly high school girls. Not that you’d expect anything less from me! :)

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 14: I got nuthin’

Some guy licked my messed up ankle tonight.

That is all.

My daddy-o is coming to visit me tomorrow. Well, visit is the wrong word. My dad’s coming up to fix my Quicken account and help me re-vamp my budget with my anticipated raise for next year. It looks like I’ve made excellent headway when it comes to my finances. My dad is proud of me, and it scares me a little. However, in May 2010 this will all be behind me, and I can really start thinking about my future. And it’s exciting. And I feel good about it.

It’s funny though… I’ve started seeing dollar signs everywhere. I think about what I’m going to use, eat, or buy. I constantly ask myself “do you really need this”? And yes, sometimes I DO need a pretty necklace or a delicious meal.

Plus, my dad will be here at lunch-ish time. That means he’ll buy me lunch. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I can’t wait! I’ll also be able to give him his (belated) Father’s Day gift. Granted, I had it over a month before Father’s Day- but it’d be weird to mail it.

I’m excited   :)

WANTED:

The perfect frozen pizza.

Must Have: delightful crust, white or MINIMAL red sauce, lots of cheese, low cost, easy availability in the stores I frequent.

Favorites I have at this time are: Flatbread’s Cheese and Herb (a white pizza), Freschetta’s Three Cheese and Bacon (another white pizza), Red Barron’s Four Cheese Pizza (very light red sauce).

I have a hard time finding my favorites, and it makes me a little sad. :(

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 11: I like the dentist

Hi Y’all.

I know I’m supposed to mention food every day… well, that was today’s food mention!

I just got home from the dentist. I love going to the dentist. Here are some reasons why…

1. No co-pay for cleanings!

2. They LOVE me there. Seriously. My hygienist always tells me how happy she is to see my name on her list for the day.

3. My dentist is named Dr. Chew. Granted that’s not how it’s SPELLED, but that’s how you SAY it. Plus, he’s SO nice to me.

4. They tell me how awesome my teeth are. How white they are, how clean they are, how well flossed.

I love going to the dentist. Especially when everything is perfect! :)

Bloggin’ Daily- Day 10: Ice Cream

Hi!

One of my favorite things about New England in the summer is old-fashioned ice-cream stands. Whoever invented them must be a genuis. Now I’m not talking about DQ or Friendly’s or anything like that. I’m talking about mom and pop shops with homemade-onsite ice cream. My glee is magnified even more when the ice cream stands are on actual dairy farms… so you can SEE where the ice cream came from!

I have to confess though…. Ice Cream- there’s someone else. Toppings. I LOVE me some toppings. I almost (dare I say it) love the toppings the most. Oozing hot fudge. Melty peanut butter. Unnaturally red cherries. Yum. Yum. YUM!

There’s an adorable little mom and pop ice cream place nearby which I adore.  It’s kind of off the beaten path. Kate and Ace have both gone there with me. This place is so mom and pop that they only accept cash! It’s good that they have an ATM on site or many people would sob or barter for free ice cream. At this place, my favorite sundae is the peanut butter cup sundae.  Let me indulge you with the ingredients:

- Oreo ice cream (or any other option you choose).

- Lots of peanut butter

- Lots of hot fudge

- Marshmallow cream (or whipped cream if you like that more)

- Walnuts (optional too)

- A cherry.

Seriously. Yum. You should all come visit. I’ll take you to this ice cream heaven! :)
